Shawn Leo Joseph Regan

Shawn Leo Joseph Regan, 61 passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at his home in Garden City with people who loved him. He was born December 4, 1953 in Garden City the son of Aloysius “Al” and Pearl (Johnson) Regan.
Shawn grew up and attended schools in Garden City. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1972. He then attended Fort Hays State University and later graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California in 1981. Shawn and his brother Tim have served as the owners and operators of Regan Jewelers since 1978. Shawn loved his work as a gemologist and as a romantic he loved being a part of love from engagements, to anniversaries. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City where he served on the finance committee, was a lector and Eucharistic minister. He also served his faith at Perpetual Adoration for 13 years. Shawn was also a past president of member of the Kansas Jewelers Association. He enjoyed woodworking, stain glass, and listening to live music. He was a gentle man that made everyone feel comfortable. He was a good listener and always took his time to respond. He loved his family and friends and he touched so many lives with his personality, smile, and jokes.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Jenise (Kells) Regan, whom he married on September 30, 1976 in Albuquerque, NM. Other survivors include two daughters Jessica (Derek) Moreno and Bridgette Regan of Garden City; a son Nathan (Kristi) Regan of Bel Aire, Ks.; two granddaughters Hailey Moreno and Kristen Moreno; brothers Tom (Julemary) Regan of Denver, Co., Mike (Chris) Regan of Garden City, Tim Regan of Garden City, Jim (Nadia) Regan of Lawrence, Ks; sisters Kathleen (Larry) Scheuchzer, Mary Regan, and Ann (Kent) Pottorf of Garden City, Colleen Steck (Ron) of Naperville, Il; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shawn is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Patrick Regan and Kevin Regan; and a granddaughter Madison Pappas.
Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Reginald A. Urban as Presider. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to High Plains Public Radio or to Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo both in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
