Erma F. Thiessen, age 94, passed away on November 15, 2015 at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas under hospice care, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 16, 1921 at the homestead on Mennonite Road Northeast of Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Isaac M. and Susie Wiens Friesen.

Erma had a relationship and love for Christ that was unbreakable. Even in her final days, she was witnessing to others. She was a charter member of Garden Valley Church since 1959 and has attended church regularly all her life, being involved in music and church work for many years. She was a busy homemaker and loved to bake for the family. She was a member of the Sunflower EHU for 45 years.

Erma was married to Ed Thiessen for 64 years, prior to his passing in January of 2008. They had three children, eight grandchildren, and nineteen great great-grandchildren. She left behind a great legacy of faith, family, tradition, and unconditional love.

Survivors include: Two daughters: Suzanne and Larry Wiens of Newton, Kansas, and Cynthia and Joe Knight of Roseville, California; Eight Grandchildren: Michael and Kim Wiens of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Sheri and Lance Williamson of Wichita, Kansas, Mark and Heather Wiens of Wichita, Kansas, Rebekah and Kyle Hambright of West Jordan, Utah, Emily and Brian Longbottom of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Angela and Troy Holdeman of Newton, Kansas, Meara and Colby Fortum of Thornton, Colorado, and Cody Knight of Roseville, California; Nineteen Great-grandchildren.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Susie Friesen; husband, Ed Thiessen; one son, Douglas Thiessen; two infant grandsons; and five siblings.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden Valley church in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will take place at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.

Open calling will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 and from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St. Garden City, Kansas.
