Five Finalists For Police Chief Make the Case to be Hired

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Five finalists made presentations last week before city and county officials to become Garden City’s new police chief.  One of the candidates is Joe Dessenburger.  He is a man who desires a return to working in a police department after serving as the Director of Personnel of the Kansas National Guard at McConnell Air Force Base.

One of the two internal candidates already in the police department is Michael Utz, Criminal Investigations Captain.

Tim Bryan is Police Chief at Butler Community College in El Dorado.  His goal to retain more officers by taking a look at increasing their pay.

Nathaniel Allen is Deputy Police Chief in Knoxville, home of the University of Tennessee.  He wants to see Garden City’s Police Department foster the same type of relationship with GCCC that he sees at home.

Another internal candidate is Captain Randy Rolston. Rolston’s goal to continue and build upon the solid foundation former police chief James Hawkins left behind after nineteen years.

An announcement is expected in the next couple of weeks.
