Francis James “Jim” Hess

Francis James “Jim” Hess, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on January 29, 1936 in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Alfred Lee and Ena Marie Turpin Hess.

Jim attended Dodge City & Ulysses schools and graduated in 1954 from Scott Community High School, attending Dodge City Community College. In 1965 he and a partner started B&H Paving in Scott City, Kansas and he became the sole owner and operator in 1988.

He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Scott City, Kansas.

On January 29, 1956 he married Nancy Joan Ramsey in Scott City, Kansas. She survives.

Survivors include his Wife – Nancy Hess of Scott City, Kansas, One Son – Michael & Tracy Hess of Scott City, Kansas, Two Daughters – Cynthia & Shane Geist of Scott City, Kansas, Patricia & Ike Schroeder of Scott City, Kansas, Three Brothers – Darol & Sylvia Hess of Greensburg, Kansas, Jerry & Donna Hess of Las Vegas, Nevada, Myron & Barbara Hess of Springfield, Missouri, One Sister In Law – Micheline Hess of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Grandchildren – Dr. Erin Nicole Hess-Escalante & Scott Escalante of Lansing, Kansas, Nancy Leigh Copeland of Lansing, Kansas, Kiera Abrienne Geist-Dennis & David Dennis of Wichita, Kansas, Richard Logan Geist of Wichita, Kansas, Lisa Karinne Geist of Wichita, Kansas, Karita Gene Geist of Shawnee, Kansas, Emily Lynne Hess of Branson, Missouri, Tyler James Hess of Lawrence, Kansas, Bo Michael Hess of Scott City, Kansas, Great Grandchildren – Alan James Escalante of Lansing, Kansas, Isabella Marie Escalante of Lansing, Kansas, Zada Bryn Copeland of Lansing Kansas, Grayden James Copeland of Lansing, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers – Don Hess & Morris Hess.

Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 with Pastor John Lewis.

Memorials may be given to the Scott Community Foundation % Price & Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
