Eunice Rosalind Klenke Schaapveld

Eunice Rosalind Klenke Schaapveld, age 91, passed away January 4, 2016.

She was born May 6, 1924 to William and Clara Klenke of Spearville, KS . Eunice attended elementary and high school in Spearville and graduated from Scared Heart College in Wichita, KS. She married Richard Schaapveld August 16, 1950 and is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Jennifer & David Rulien of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Sharon & Chuck Feaster of Jacksonville, FL, Kathy & Randy DeCoito of Lincoln NE, Son-in-law Randy Burnett and wife Cyndie of Pinehurst, NC, eight grandchildren: Erin Loffler, Bill Burnett, Shannon Rulien Conness, Captain J.D. Rulien, Chad Feaster, Kacie Feaster Cobb, Cara DeCoito, Chloe DeCoito, eight great grandchildren: Tori Burnett, Kai Burnett, Tristan Daniel, Ronan Loffler, Attie Lauer, James Feaster, Sean Conness, and Abby Rulien, and spouses of the grandchildren, Jesse Loffler, Kristin Burnett, Patrick Conness, Mary Rulien, Brittany Feaster, and Taylor Cobb. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, two daughters, Vicki Burnett and LouAnn Schaapveld, her parents, two brothers, three sisters and many nieces and nephews. Eunice and Dick began their 55 years of marriage in Dodge City and started their family. They also lived and raised their girls in Jacksonville, FL, Lincoln, NE, and Omaha, NE before returning to Dodge City to enjoy their retirement years with relatives and many life-long friends.

Eunice was a member of the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella and was a volunteer for the Emergency Pregnancy Services, Pink Ladies and Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, working crossword puzzles, card games with friends, and playing on her iPad.

Eunice leaves to all those who knew and loved her a legacy of kindness, compassion, grace, and genuine concern for others.

Vigil service will be 7:30 pm Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City. Visitation will be Sunday from Noon to 7:30 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
