Jetmore, KS (westernkansasnews.com) House Leadership in Topeka took Representative John Ewy of Jetmore off the Education Committee and put him on Transportation, while it strengths Southwest Kansas voice on one panel, it leaves only one voice from our area on the panel Ewy leaves behind.
There has been talk, but no one can confirm Ewy’s opposition with the new block grant funding model for education was the reason for the move.
Now that Ewy is on the Transportation Committee, one of his main objectives is pushing for improvements to K-156, a road many people travel everyday.
With all the concern about taking from KDOT to prop up the state budget, Ewy is being told do not worry.
Some of these road project go ten years out. Ewy says he is committed to keeping K-156 at the top of our area’s greatest need for road improvement.
