Charlie C. Walls, Age 91, of Ulysses, KS died Friday, February 19, 2016 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, KS. He was born June 12, 1924 at St. John, KS the son of Fred C. and Ruth (Shotton) Walls.

Charlie grew up and graduated high school at St. John, KS. Charlie served in the U.S. Navy, and after being honorably discharged, moved to Ulysses, KS in 1948 and started farming. Charlie was a member of the Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post # 79, Ulysses Lion’s Club and was on the Golden School Board. Charlie loved to travel the world and enjoyed the many cruises he took. He was a great story teller and loved to visit with people and enjoyed his coffee buddies. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed keeping cattle at the feedlot and following cattle markets.  

On March 11, 1951, Charlie married Betty Jean Carter in Ulysses, KS. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters; Marta Jackson of Deming, NM, Mary Hamlin of Garden City, KS and Barbara Clark of Hutchinson, KS, one sister; Della Ann Anderson of Riverton, WY; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, one son; Herschel Walls, two brothers; George Walls and Freddie Walls, three sisters; Violet, Juanita and Yvonne.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, KS with Pastor Todd Guinn presiding. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, KS. Friends may call on Monday, February 22, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas.
