Lenora Wartman, 90 died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at The Shepherd’s Center in Cimarron, Kansas. She was born September 26, 1925 in Hoisington, Kansas the daughter of Edmond & Ida (Popp) Ochs.
Lenora moved with her family to the Kalvesta, Kansas area when she was a child. They later moved to Garden City. On January 30, 1942, Lenora married Alvin D. “Hoot” Wartman in Garden City. They lived on the family farm near Pierceville and have lived there since. Lenora was a strong believer in education which led her to earn her G.E.D. in 1969. A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, yard and lawn work, sewing, quilting, bowling, and traveling to various bowling events. She was a member of the Pierceville Federated Church, the Triple Deck Bridge Club of Ingalls, and the Finney County Historical Society.  
Survivors include two sons Jerald Wartman of Ingalls, Ks. and Lonnie & wife Donna Wartman of Monument, Co.; two daughters Judy Wartman of Ingalls, Ks. and Sandy Wartman of Wichita, Ks.; two brothers LeRoy Ochs of Springfield, Mo. And Walter Ochs of Garden City, Ks.; two sisters Wilma Guy of Littleton, Co. and Barbara Petr of Blue Rapids, Ks.; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Lenora is preceded in death by her husband Alvin “Hoot” Wartman who died on September 19, 1971. She is also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and another infant brother; and five sisters and another infant sister.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville with Pastor Terry Major officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to The Shepherd’s Center Foundation or to Hospice of the Prairie both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
