Marjorie “Marj” Ellen Herring Hornbaker

Marjorie “Marj” Ellen Herring Hornbaker, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas. She was born on September 17, 1933 in Fort Dodge, Kansas, the daughter of Horace N. and Emma Elizabeth Lawrence Herring. She was a resident of Tribune, Kansas since 1951 after graduating from Garden City High School in Garden City, Kansas.

On December 16, 1951 she married Gordon Dean Hornbaker in Garden City, Kansas. Shortly after marriage they moved to their present day farm in southwest Greeley County, Kansas. On December 11, 1961 their only child, Karen Sue was born. Dean passed away on May 1, 1997 in Denver, Colorado and Karen Morrison passed away on October 21, 2011 in Tribune, Kansas.

Marj was active in many community activities, some of which include the Extension Council, 

4-H Leader, Farm Bureau, Greeley County Antiquer’s, Red Hat Society, DKM Farms, Tribune Bowl, Grandma Pitch, Bridge Club, South Colony Unit and served as a county commissioner.

She is survived by One Grandson – James Eric Morrison of Panorama City, California.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband and One Daughter – Karen Sue Morrison.

Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 with the Rev. Wayne Stephens presiding.

Memorials In Lieu of Flowers may be given to the Greeley county Hospital or Greeley County Long Term Care Center % Price & Sons Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas
