SW Kansas Resident Diagnosed with Zika Virus

(westernkansasnews.com) The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has notified the public that they have diagnosed the first person in Southwest Kansas with the Zika Virus. Because of privacy concerns, health officials are not releasing any further information, but they can confirm the victim has traveled to one of the South American countries where the virus is prevalent.

Eighty percent of those with the Zika Virus never develop any symptoms. The illness can cause birth defects for pregnant women.
