Manuel H. Lopez, 87, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. 

He was born December 16, 1928 at Dodge City, the son of Camilo and Vincenta (Herrera) Lopez. He was a lifetime Dodge City resident and a graduate of Dodge City High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Private First Class. In his early years, he worked for the Santa Fe Rail Road. He later worked as a manager at Fairmont Foods until retiring in 1980 when it closed. He then worked in the Maintenance Department at Dodge City Community College, retiring in 1991. 

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Life Member of American Legion Post 47, Esquibel Brothers GI Forum, 3rd Degree and Life Member of Knights of Columbus Council 2955 and Senior Friends all in Dodge City. 

On November 15, 1957, he married Priscilla Cruz at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Dodge City. 

Survivors include: his wife, Dodge City; his son, Greg Lopez and wife JaNell, Pittsburg, Kansas; 2 daughters, Sandra Lopez, Dodge City and Tina Briseno and husband Cedric, Dodge City; a sister, Mary Jane Esquibel, Arlington, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Lopez, Christopher Briseno, Allie Lopez and Gracie Lopez; and a great grandson, Silas Briseno. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Bernardo, Sal, Joe and Leo Lopez. 

Vigil service will be 7:00 pm Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday at the church with Fr. Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City with full military rites by the American Legion and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
