Edmond T. Reist, 83, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City. 

He was born May 30, 1932 at Copeland, the son of Cleon D. and Myrtle Clara (Spalding) Reist. He was a lifetime Gray County resident and a graduate of Ingalls High School. He spent many years farming and for 19 years was a yard foreman at Ingalls Feed Yard and later worked as a heavy equipment operator for Gray County until his retirement. 

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Cimarron, served on the Ingalls School Board for 12 years as well as a longtime Ingalls City Councilman. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for over 50 years. He enjoyed running his dog, Skip and loved talking about and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Survivors include: 3 children, Earl and wife Crystal, Fountain, Colorado, Michael, Cimarron and Cathy Herrmann and husband Henry, Syracuse, Kansas; his sister, Mary Crotinger and husband Lloyd, Cimarron; his brother, Jerry and wife Peggy, Ingalls; 11 grandchildren, Tim Reist and wife Naomi, Stacy Reist and wife Amy, Justin Salm and wife Nicole, Wesley Werth and wife Holly, Brandee Werth, Joshua Reist, Cole Reist, Jacob Reist, Clay Reist, Cordell Reist and Cody Reist; and 9 great grandchildren, Kirsten Reist, Abbie Reist, Adalena Salm, Max Reist, Ethan Reist, Barron Salm, Laikynn Werth, Catherine Reist and Steele Salm. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Timothy on October 2, 1980, 2 brothers, Max and Cleon, Jr. and 2 sisters, Minnie Byers and Doris Herman. 

A Celebration of Edmond’s Life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 13, 2016 at the First Christian Church, Cimarron, with David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Cimarron.
