Tobacco Settlement Funds Eclipse One Billion Dollars

(westernkansasnews.com) State Attorney General Derek Schmidt has received his latest payment from the tobacco settlement and that now gives Kansas 1 billion dollars since the first check was written in 1999.  The money goes back to help states combat tobacco related illnesses and diseases.  Funds received also benefit programs like the Russell Childhood Development Center through the Child Initiative Fund created from the settlement with tobacco companies.
