Boot Hill Distillery Set to Open During Dodge City Days

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Saturday marks the start of Dodge City Days and the opening of the new Boot Hill Distillery on the grounds of the old Boot Hill Cemetery. Dodge City native Mark Vierthaler is excited to be part of the distillery and he explains how alcohol drove the humble beginnings of the town.

Vierthaler is proud of what they created.

Now with their opening set the question becomes what is next?  Vierthaler knows some decisions will have to be made.

That is about a batch per day.  State law also limits how customers can get the product that comes out of the distillery.

The next step will be to encourage voters this November repeal part of the liquor law in Ford County that forces Boot Hill Distillery to charge membership for a private club because thirty percent of revenue does not come from food sales.

Tours will be offered from 1pm-8pm Saturday with refreshments served. The ribbon cutting begins at 5pm.
