Finney County Softens Hit on Proposed Mill Increase

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) With a 40 million dollar drop in property valuation, Finney County Commissioners originally were considering a 7.5 mill levy increase for next year.

By juggling some funds and enacting cuts including for capital improvements commissioners have now dropped their proposed increase down to 3.5 mills.  That means the owner of a 100,000 home can expect to pay a little more than $40.00 in property taxes.

The public can weigh in on the budget at a meeting set for August 15th.
