NO. 3 Dodge City soccer blanks Garden City

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Garden City assistant coach Josue Negron summed up Dodge City in just a few short words.

“They’re really good this year,” he said. “They’re fast and fundamentally.”

All of that was on full display on Tuesday night.

Josh Don Juan scored a pair of goals, and Dodge City’s defense tormented Garden City in a 2-0 victory at Memorial Stadium.

“It’s our third shutout in a row,” Red Demons Head Coach Saul Hernandez said after the match. That’s a pretty impressive feat.”

So is this: Dodge City limited Garden to just one shot on goal in 80 minutes of action.

“Our defense has really been communicating on the back end,” Hernandez added.

Don Juan got the Red Demons going early in the first half, scoring in the 17th minute to give Dodge City a 1-0 edge. The score stayed that way until 15 minutes into the second frame, when Don Juan again found the back of the net.

Dodge City out shot Garden 14-3. Buffalo goalie Kender Acevedo had 10 saves.
