Weather Models Indicated Slightly Warmer Winter, More Moisture

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) There are many factors in predicting the weather and determining patterns several months out.  It can be an extremely difficult task.  National Weather Service meteorologists Larry Ruthi tells us what we can expect this winter.

However…

Ruthi tracks similar models to what was seen prior to the winter of 1942-43.  Although Western Kansas has seen little precipitation over the last six weeks the area is in good standing headed into the winter.

The worry is next summer we will be back to dry conditions.

The hope is that more moisture could help farmers in the short-term leading up to next year.
