Darlene Housman, 89, died November 22, 2016 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City. She was born on October 27, 1927 at Dodge City the daughter of Clarence and Sylvia (Jones) Beye. 

She married Walter Housman on August 19, 1949 in Dodge City, he preceded her in death on June 8, 1998. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for thirteen years. Mrs. Housman was also the co-owner of Walt’s small engine repair for twenty three years before retiring. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge all of Dodge City.

She is survived by three sons Kelly Housman of Dodge City; Chad Housman of Cordell, Oklahoma; David Housman of Cimarron; one sister Blance “Bunny” Shapansky of Arapaho, Oklahoma. She is also survived her grandchildren Brice Housman, Amanda Housman and Landon Housman, one step grandson Jeremey, one step granddaughter Heather Winkler three step great grandchildren Cheyenne Winkler, Isaac Winkler, Samantha Burnett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Harold Housman, one granddaughter Misty Housman, one brother Jim Beye and two sister Shirley Allen and Betty Miller.

Graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery on Saturday November 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Heath Ormord presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
