Geraldine Mann, 87, died Friday, December 30, 2016 at Garden Valley Retirement Village following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born October 24, 1929 in Bradley Township, Oklahoma the third daughter of Roy and Sarah Denson. After graduating from high school at Alex, Oklahoma, she was employed by Bell Telephone as a long distance operator. She worked for Bell for several years in both Oklahoma and Nebraska. On July 18, 1949, she and Ray Mann were married in Wichita Fall, Texas.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Builders Sunday School Class in Garden City. Geraldine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, and especially knitting. Her kindness and sense of humor will be missed.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-In-law Marjorie and J.R. Foster; nephew Fred Foster; niece Jo Ann Rodgers; and a special brother-In-law Richard Mann.
Survivors include her husband Ray; daughters Linda (Bob) Baker of Garden City and Judy (Dale) Robl of Salina; sister Ruby (Hershall) Rodgers of Cypress, California; Grandchildren Robert (Rochelle) Clower, Eric (Rebecca) Clower, Nicole (Mark) Daniher, Peter (Sarah) Robl, Jordan (Sadie) Robl, Adam Robl, Jill (Max) Rowland, Jonathon (Emily) Baker, Jason Baker, and Kristine Baker; Twelve Great-Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Brian Faust officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family request memorials given to the First United Methodist Church of Garden City or to the Finney County Retired Senior Volunteer Program both in care of the funeral home.
