Maurice Matthew Mayfield
Maurice Matthew Mayfield, 80, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born May 16, 1936 in Garden City the son of Howard McClurkin and Sabena Harms McClurkin Mayfield.
Maurice lived most of his life in Garden City. He attended and graduated from high school in Heavener, Oklahoma in 1954. Maurice then attended and graduated from Garden City Community College before attending New Mexico State University. Maurice married Sharolyn Doubrava in Garden City in June of 1962. He worked as a regional sales manager for Motorola Corporation for many years where he earned a membership in the Galvin Master Club. Maurice later became owner and operator of Triple M Communications in Garden City. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, playing cards, animals and taking care of them, reading, water sports, and road trips.
Survivors include two sons Kevin Mayfield of Garden City and Marc & wife Jill Mayfield of Garden City; two sisters Dorothy Tejada of Arlington, TX and Sandy Mayfield of Albquerque, NM; and two grandchildren Mitch Mayfield and Haley Mayfield. Maurice is preceded in death by a sister Pat Haebbe.
A Celebration of Maurice’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Pastor Scott Rosen and Bob Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
