Allen L. Barrand, 54, died January 7, 2017 at Dodge City. He was born on January 11, 1962 at Garden City, the son of Lurleen and Larry Barrand.

Allen was a lifetime resident of Dodge City. He attended Miller, Lincoln and Northwest Elementary Schools and Dodge City Jr. High School. He graduated from Ensign High School in 1981 where he received many awards for track, basketball, football and F.F.A. Allen joined the Navy in 1982 and spent most of this service time in Brenner, Washington and the San Francisco Bay area. He spent a lot of time in the Haight Ashbury district and the Golden Gate Park. Allen received an associate’s degree at Dodge City Community College in 1992 and a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University in 1995.

Allen currently worked for the Ford County Government Center and previously worked for New Chance Inc., National Beef, and MBPXL. He loved to fish, camp, and help others. He especially loved to play his bass guitar with his brother in their band “Jury” for over 20 years and was excited about his new band “All Mixed Up.” Allen loved animals especially cats. His beloved kitty Tiger also died in Allen’s house fire. Allen went to treatment to stay sober in 1982 at C.D.U. in Dodge City and has not drank since.

Allen loved going on vacation with his brother Donnie and his wife Judy every year to San Isabel lake in Colorado, and Perry Lake in Topeka. His favorite vacations were going with his grandmother and mother to see his uncle Lanny in Baltimore and uncle Lynn in Phoenix.

Allen’s maternal family lived in Dodge City and his paternal family lived in Topeka. He loved them all very much and his grandmother Noggle was his rock of Gibralter. When his mother and father divorced in 1963 they lived as an extended family Grandpa Pete, Grandma Glenda, Mom and his two brothers Donnie and Monty. In the last few years he has become very close with his sister Dee Higer in Dryridge, KY, and they had a very strong Christian Connection.

Allen has always been a strong Christian and God called him home to be with all of his deceased loved ones. We know it will be a rejoiceful reunion and God must have needed a bass player in heaven.

Allen is preceded in death by his mother Lurleen Barrand; grandmothers: Glenda Noggle and Faye Reamer; grandfathers: Pete Noggle and Al Barrand; uncles: Lynn Noggle, Lanny Noggle, and Gary Barrand; aunts: Carolynn Noggle and Marlene Barrand; and cousins: Glenda, Yolanda and Ty Barrand.

He is survived by brothers: Donnie (Judy) Barrand of Dodge City, and Monty (Casey) Noggle of Inman; sister Dee (Brian) Higer of Dry Ridge, KY; father Larry Barrand; five nephews and one niece.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Wilroads Garden Christian Church on Friday January 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Pastors Jason Goetz and Monty Williams presiding. Friends will be invited to share memories of Allen during the service this would be very much appreciated by the family.
