Demon Girls Lose Tight Fifth Place Game to Hays in McPherson

McPherson, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It was not a game that could be confused with an offensive explosion, but for almost the entire game Dodge City (4-8) girls redeemed themselves from a 21 point loss to Hays just one week earlier.

Highlights

Dodge used a 9-0 run to begin the second quarter and held Hays scoreless over the first six minutes of the third, but in the end it was not enough for the Red Demons to take care of the Indians losing 28-25 in Saturday’s fifth place game from the Mid-American Basketball Classic.

Tia Bradshaw poured in 12 points and finished with 43 in the tournament for Dodge. She fouled out with 38 seconds left and Ashley Nelson suffered an ankle injury, preventing both of Coach Kelley Snodgrass’ weapons from being on the floor during the game’s final possession.

Down 28-25 Madison Armstrong missed on her sixth straight three point attempt  and the Demons could not chase the ball down in the final seconds to force overtime.
