Biodefense Conference Alerts Officials to Protect Ag From Terrorism

Manhattan, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Last week a biodefense seminar opened a dialogue on protecting agriculture from anyone who intends to do harm to the US.  Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Jackie McClasky was one of the speakers at the event and says even after 9/11 the response was slow to identify this as a problem.

McClaskey believes this conversation needs to move forward in creative ways to spark both the need for urgency and change.

Attendees included former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle, K-State President General Richard Myers and Congressman Roger Marshall.
