Edward Adam Birzer, 50, died February 15, 2017 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. He was born on August 27, 1966 at Belvedere, Illinois and was adopted by Donald D. and Mary Ellen Birzer on his 12th birthday.

Ed was a graduate of Dodge City High School and later attended St. Mary of the Plains for two years. On Dec. 8, 1989 he was married to Kathryn L. Moore of Dodge City. Ed spent a time of service in the US army, doing active duty in Iraq during Desert Storm. He worked at Wal-Mart, Dillons, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Western Plains Medical Complex. 

He was a lifetime member of Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W.

Ed is survived by his wife, Kathy Birzer of Dodge City; his father, Donald Birzer of Victoria; mother, Mary Ellen Johnson of Raliegh-Durham, North Carolina; four sisters, Joy and Lisa of South Dakota; Elizabeth Crump of Brookville and Vicky Rhodes of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Memorial service will be held at the Dodge City Mennonite Church on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Richard Koehn presiding. Burial will be at Old St. Joseph Cemetery in Offerle.
