Body Found in Hamilton County is Man From Garden

Syracuse, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Hamilton County Sheriff has identified a body found in a rural area on April 18th as that of a man from Garden City.  The 29 year old who passed is Manuel Avalos.  Foul play is not suspected in Avalos death.

Originally the missing report was phoned in by Avalos mother.  She lives in Deerfield.  The last contact between Avalos and her son was April 5th.  After being unable to contact her son for two days she then phoned in a missing report.

A man had given Avalos a ride helping him on his walk to Colorado, April 6th.  A deputy in Hamilton County spotted Avalos and offered him a ride and some water later that day.  The deputy then recognize the man as Avalos from the missing person’s report.  

The patrolman’s camera was helpful in identifying Avalos body.  Confirmation came in on the missing identity of the man April 24th by using his fingerprints.  The investigation continues into the cause of death.
