Richard Rangel, age 88, died on April 5, 2017 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on April 3, 1929 in Lyons, Kansas, the son of Cosme and Mary Correa Rangel.

He has been a lifetime member of the Garden City community since moving at a young age. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Railroad supervisor.

His hobbies include restoring cars and gardening whenever possible.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and the American Legion, both of Garden City, Kansas. 

Richard served his country in the Korean war.

On February 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Elvira Arteaga Rangel. She survives.

One Sister Isabel Martinez of Liberal, Kansas

Twenty-one grandchildren, Forty Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great-Grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Julia Garcia, Connie Martinez, and Senona Martinez; two sons, Richard Rangel Jr., John Rangel.

Open calling will be from 1-8 pm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.

The rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas.

Interment will take place immediately following at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
