Lee Richardson Zoo will reopen tomorrow morning at 8 after closing for nearly two weeks due to the recent winter storm. The storm did $50,000 in damage to trees at the zoo, but the animals came out unharmed.
Zoo Director Kristi Newland says that estimate is low.
The zoo will re-open just in time for Lee Richardson Zoo week May 14-20th. A week to celebrate the Zoo’s 90th birthday. Some of the special events planned include highlighting mothers day on May 14th, Blues at the zoo on May 16th and the zoo’s birthday bash on May 20th.
Newland credits the community for supporting the zoo.
