Colorado-native Tyler Severin wins AJGA Kansas Junior

Garden City, KS-Watching Tyler Severin during his three-day odyssey at Buffalo Dunes, you would have never guessed it was the young golfer’s first junior tournament.

“I just stayed within myself,” he said.

It may sound like the company line, but in Severin’s case, he not only stuck with the company line, he formed a corporation in the process.

Severin birdied two holes and made par everywhere else on his way to a third-round 72. He finished 1-under for the tournament.

“I got up and down really well,” said Severin, who had more than 10 golfers right on his heels entering play on Thursday. “I just stuck to what I know, and the end result was pretty good.”

Severin was the only player in the field to shoot under-par. Zachary Sokolosky came in second at even.

Garden City’s Sion Audrain finished sixth. He had an uneven tournament with a first round 74, followed by a 73 and a 75 on Thursday. The soon-to-be junior was 6-over for the tournament; a week after claiming his second straight City Championship. His high-school teammate Logan Durst was 34th; he finished 15-over par.
