Mark R. Long
Mark R. Long, 65, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
He was born November 10, 1951 in Garden City, Kansas to Ronald Eugene Long and Clara Belle (Murphy) Long. He grew up in Dodge City, Kansas and has spent the last 17 years in Hutchinson. He was a 1969 graduate of St. Mary of the Plains High School. Mark spent many years at the family business, Glas-Flex Roofing Company. He also worked for Rounds & Porter Lumber Company for quite some time.
He spent many years volunteering with Dodge City Round-Up Rodeo and was an active member of Boothill Jaycee’s. He enjoyed scuba diving, softball, and attending his kids’ games. After retirement, he loved motorcycling and his family becoming a very devoted dad and grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Davidson; children, Brandi Rodriguez (Pancho) of Wichita, Jonathan Long (Jessica) of Hutchinson, Nicholas Long (Casey) of Dodge City, Angie Drake (Adam) of Hutchinson and Travis Thiel (Susan) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Isaac, Terrell, Damian, Noah, Ashlinn, Aveleen, Shelbi, Wyatt and Adison; his brother, Kurt Long (Starla) and niece, Keely of Dallas, Texas; many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Rev. David Graves officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Kidney Fund in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
