Garden City man arrested for Attempted Murder

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) On December 5, 2017, at 11:30 PM, Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to 4101 E. HWY 50 for a reported domestic violence situation.

When officers arrived they made contact with a 34 year old female victim who alleged she was pushed into a wall by her significant other causing her head to hit the wall. The male suspect then lit a fire in close proximity to a one year old child. This caused the female to flee the residence with the child. The female responded to St. Catherine hospital and was treated and released for minor injuries. The child was unharmed. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

On December 6, 2017, Esteban Martinez (26) was taken into custody at his residence for the requested charges of:
Attempted Murder
Aggravated Battery (DV)
Aggravated Arson
