Scott City wrestling leads after day one in Goodland; Nine area wrestlers qualify for state
Goodland, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Beavers have a five-point lead over Norton after the first day of the Class 3-2-1A Regional Tournament in Goodland. While the Beavers have only three wrestlers qualified for state, they still have nine others alive on the backside after the first day, with six of them in the consolation semi-final round.
Scott City has three in the finals on Saturday. Justus McDaniel at 126, Jarret Jurgens at 160 and Wyatt Hayes have punched their tickets to state next weekend in Hayes. Cimarron also punched three into the finals on Saturday with Braiden Lynn at 120, Dylan Newton at 182 and Josh Seabolt at 195. Lakin put two through to the finals with Johhney Perez at 145 and Hadley Panzer at 285. Wichita County has a state qualifier in Joaquin Castillo at 138.
The Consolation Second Round wrestlebacks will start up Saturday morning at 10 am Central Time.
