GCHS student making prom more affordable
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Mykal Radney knew she couldn’t afford a $500 dress for prom and knew others might struggle with the same issue, so she decided to do something.
As part of her Buff Project Radney opened Kal’s Glamorous Gowns four months ago in Garden City. They’ve had donated or purchased around 360 gowns so far. Kal’s has sold about 200 of those gowns for $30 or less. Kal’s has also donated 14 gowns
“By donated I mean we provided them with a gown, makeup, nails, accessories, shoes, whatever they needed for prom,” said Radney.
Currently the store is slated to stay open through prom season on April 20, but Radney said they are looking for a new building that would allow them to stay open through the summer.
