Scott City wrestling finishes third in Lexington

Lexington, Neb. (westernkansasnews.com)–Taking the mat for the first time in two weeks, the Scott City wrestling team went north on Saturday, competing in the ever-tough John Higgins Invitational in Lexington, Nebraska.

Hastings won the tournament with 199.5 points, while Lexington was second with 182 points, and Scott City finished third with 153.5 points.

The Beavers were able to put one wrestler on the top of the awards stand. Kaden Wren would win the 138-pound weight class, winning in an ultimate tiebreaker 4-3. That win helped him win the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament award.

Taking home second place finishes were Wyatt Hayes at 170 and Kyle Sherwood at 220 pounds.

Up next for Scott City is the Rocky Welton Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Garden City.
