Board of Education Approves 2019-2020 School Calendar

The Garden City Public Schools Board of Education approved the 2019-2020 school calendar at the April 1st meeting.  A morning session of school will be held for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district on Monday, August 12, 2019.  The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

Some key dates on the calendar where there will be no school include:

  • August 2nd – 7th – Orientation for new teachers
  • August 8th – Inservice for all teachers
  • August 9th – Workday for all teachers
  • August 12th – Morning class only for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district, teacher workday in the afternoon
  • August 13th – First full day of school for all students
  • September 2nd – Labor Day observed no school
  • September 26th and 27th – Teacher inservice
  • October 18th – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
  • October 24th and 25th – Parent Teacher Conferences
  • November 11th – Teacher inservice in the morning and new teacher inservice in the afternoon
  • November 27th – 29th  – Fall vacation
  • December 20th – Teacher inservice in the morning
  • December 23rd – January 3rd – Winter vacation: school is not in session
  • January 6th – Teacher workday
  • January 7th – School resumes
  • January 31st – Teacher inservice in the morning and new teacher inservice in the afternoon
  • February 21st – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
  • February 27th and 28th – Parent Teacher Conferences
  • March 16th – 20th – Spring Break
  • April 10th and 13th – Spring vacation
  • May 21st – Last day of school
  • May 22nd – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
