GARDEN CITY, Kan. — Communities in School will host “FutureNow: Finance” for all Garden City High School freshmen on Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th.  This financial literacy simulation is designed to help students understand some of the challenges involved in preparing for an employable future and adulthood.  The event provides students the opportunity to learn about the choices they will make as an adult.

Students will be provided a lifestyle scenario.  This scenario will include marital status, number of children, occupation, and net monthly income.  The students will then visit a variety of booths to purchase housing, transportation, communication services, child care, food, utilities, insurance, etc.  They will also have the opportunity to save money, give to charity, and learn about unexpected things that can affect daily life.
