Garden City Community College Sports Information
Garden City, KS-Garden City Community College men’s soccer coach, Scott Westbrook, was relieved of
his duties on Monday. Head women’s coach, Corey Bryant, will take over on an interim basis.
“We’ve decided to go in a different direction with our men’s soccer program,” Director of Athletics Greg
McVey said in a statement.
Westbrook was about to begin his third season at Garden City and first as just the men’s coach. He spent
the previous two years leading both programs.
“We wish Coach Westbrook the best in his future endeavors,” McVey added.
In Westbrook’s first season, he guided the Broncbuster men to a 7-10 record and a playoff appearance, falling to Kansas City in the opening round 4-0. The women finished 0-15. Last season, the men went 7-9-1 and the women were 3-13-1. He leaves Garden City with an overall record of 17-47-2 (.265).
Westbrook replaced Charles Long, who resigned following the 2016 campaign.
Meantime Bryant, 30, enters his first season as the Broncbuster women’s coach. He served last year as
the head girls coach at Nickerson and before that, was an assistant under Sammy Lane at Hutchinson,
where the blue Dragons compiled a 71-16-3 overall record. He was part of two Jayhawk Conference titles (2014 and 2016) while coaching 45 all-conference players, 29 all-region selections and three All-
Americans. He has more than 10 years of collegiate coaching experience.
The Broncbuster men open the regular season Saturday at Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa.
