AG Derek Schmidt appoints Garden City woman to Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee

TOPEKA – (September 11, 2019) – Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt today announced the appointment of Katrina Pollet, executive director of the Finney County Department of Corrections, as a member of the Kansas Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee.
“Katrina’s experience working with youth in rural Kansas will be a valuable perspective for the Oversight Committee,” Schmidt said. “I am thankful for her willingness to serve in this important role.”
Pollet has served as director of the Southwest Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Facility since 2011. In March 2016, she was also named as executive director for the Finney County Department of Corrections. Pollet’s previous experience includes working for the Kansas Department of Corrections Juvenile Services, the Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility, Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility and the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex. Pollet received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Bethany College in Lindsborg.
The Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee was created in 2016 with the passage of Senate Bill 367. That bill was designed to implement a number of reforms to the juvenile justice system in Kansas. The Oversight Committee was created to oversee the implementation of the intended reforms.
