Garnand Funeral Home
Katherine (Katy) Joan Hall Tucker passed from her earthly home Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Olathe Medical Center. Born June 10, 1935 to Charles William Hall and Lillian May (Lile) Hall on the homestead in rural Beaver county Oklahoma. She was 84 years old.
She was affectionally known as Katy Jo to her family and friends as she grew up on the farm. She attended school in Beaver, graduating in 1953 as the class Salutatorian. Katy attended Panhandle State A&M College where she met the love of her life, Allen. She put her education on hold so she and Allen could be married before he went off to Army basic training in Missouri. She would later complete her Bachelor of Science degree. She worked on the base as a secretary when Allen was assigned to Fort Gordon in Georgia. When Allen finished his army obligation the happy couple made their home near Elkhart where they began living the farming life. Allen supplemented their meager income with teaching and coaching at Taloga, Dalhart and finally Elkhart. Katy attended numerous sporting events in support of Allen. She would also attend countless ballgames, track meets, plays, musicals and 4-H events in support of their 3 children and then grandchildren.
Katy loved to garden and always had a beautiful crop of tomatoes, green beans and cucumbers. She enjoyed collecting depression glass and displayed it proudly. She served as a Sunday school teacher and 4-H clothing leader spending countless hours at the County Fair checking in clothing and helping with judging. Katy was quite the businesswoman and enjoyed being a Stanley Home Products sales representative. Through Stanley she met a lot of people that would become good friends. Katy was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and UMW. She also served an active role in communion preparation and chairing the memorials/ correspondence committee. In her later years she lived with her daughter, Tammy and became an avid supporter of Kansas State athletics, the Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. Being such a Super Fan, seems she was always wearing either a purple, red or blue jersey in support of which ever team was playing that day.
Katy is survived by daughters Tammy and husband Terry Mize of Olathe, KS; Terri and husband Richard Adams of Argyle, TX; and son Charley and Carrie Tucker of Wichita, KS; 5 granddaughters, Shae Adams, Beth Mills, Sadie Mills, Jaclyn Tucker, Carley Tucker, and 5 grandsons; Matthew Mize, Mitchell Mize, Richie Adams, Ross Mills and Zane Tucker. She is also survived by her sister Carol and husband Doyle Stapp and a host of family and friends.
In addition to her husband Allen, she was predeceased by her parents, in-laws, Oral and Gertrude Tucker (Addington), one brother, Charles W. Hall II, two brothers-in-law, Jim Tucker, Carl Tucker, 2 sisters-in-law, Olga Tucker, Annabelle Long, 2 nieces, Cindy Wesley, Delta Stapp, 2 nephews, Kim Tucker, Jay Wesley.
The family would like to thank the dedicated aides, nurses, and doctors at the Olathe Medical Center for their care and kindness as we said goodbye to our beloved mother and grandmother.
