City of Garden City to Hold Upcoming Public Meetings Virtually

GARDEN CITY – Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the two Public Meetings, the Finney County Board of Zoning Appeals scheduled for May 20, and the Holcomb-Garden City- Finney County Area Planning Commission scheduled for May 21, will be held as Zoom meetings to ensure the safety of the community, staff, and board members. Both meetings are open to the public, and each meeting will have a public hearing in association with specific scheduled cases.

Instructions on how to join the Zoom meeting are listed below. You may access the meeting by downloading the app or by calling from a landline or cell phone. The City Administration Center is currently closed to walk-in traffic; however, if you are unable to join via Zoom and you would like to be a part of the meeting, please contact our Neighborhood and Development Services Department at 620-276-1170 to make arrangements to participate.

Accessing Zoom
Zoom is a free digital conferencing service that allows meetings to be broadcast on the internet to devices such as computers, tablets, and smartphones. There is no fee to use Zoom, but your phone minutes or data plan will be used while accessing.

To access video and audio, download the free Zoom app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer (https://zoom.us/). If you choose not to download the app, after clicking the meeting link, you will be prompted to open Zoom or have the option of downloading the app to access the meeting.

The Finney County Board of Zoning Appeals on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at 9:00 A.M. The following case will be open for public comment:

• FCBZA2020CUP-05: Victor Treto has applied for a conditional use permit for a personal
horse training facility and animals in excess to limits set in 5.020 (10) in the “R-R” Rural
Residential District at property generally located at 902 W. Maple St, Finney County, KS.

The Holcomb-Garden City-Finney County Area Planning Commission on Thursday, May 21,
2020, at 9:00 A.M. The following cases will be open for public comment:

• FC2020CPARZ-27&28: A comprehensive plan amendment from Agriculture use to
Residential use, and a rezone from “A” Agricultural District with “AIO” Airport Overlay
District to “R-R” Rural Residential District with “AIO” Airport Overlay District at property
generally located at the corner of S. Pierceville Rd. and E. Parallel Rd, at the request of
Jolene Baker.

• GC2020RZ-29: A rezone from “I-1, I-2” Light-Medium Industrial District (County) to “C-2” General Commercial District (City) at property generally located west of 1603 W. Mary St. and east of Ray Rd., at the request of Chris Angeles.

• GC2020ZRA-30: An amendment to Article 23.030 Planned Unit Development of the
Garden City Zoning Regulations, at the request of Jared Torres.
