K-51 project to begin in Stevens and Seward counties

Crews are expected to begin a mill and overlay project on K-51 in Stevens and Seward counties on Monday, June 22, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. Crews will begin at the east city limit of Hugoton and continue east to the U.S. 83 junction in Seward County.

Motorists should expect delays as traffic will be reduced to one lane guided by a pilot car in the work zone.

J&R Sand of Liberal is the contractor on this $2.3 million project, which is expected to be completed in August, weather permitting.
