Naoma W. Rundell, age 90, died Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, Kansas.  She was born July 1, 1929, in Stafford, Kansas, the daughter of John Henry and Elizabeth (Sheeks) Hayden.  

Naoma grew up in Stafford.  She married Jay W. Rundell on May 25, 1947, in Wichita.  Their family moved to Ulysses in 1955 where she worked at Cantrell’s Pharmacy, Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses Airport, was a Med Aide and EMT.  In 2006, Naoma received her diploma in Education for Ministry.  She was a member of Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Square Dance Club, Red Hat Society, and community theatre groups.  Naoma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, reading, traveling, singing, playing cards, belly dancing, and reciting poetry.  Although she was very active in her community, Naoma always had time for her family.

Naoma is survived by two sons, Lyle Rundell and wife Debbie of Wichita, and Hugh Rundell and wife Lisa of Lawrence; daughters, Carolyn Dunn and husband Don of Ulysses, Tamra Rundell of Ulysses, Bobbie Bynum of Eufaula, Alabama, and Robin Collum and husband Jess of Ulysses; daughter-in-law, Tami Rundell of Ulysses; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. 

Naoma is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jay in 1975; son, Gus; six brothers, Trenton, Sam, Hank, Jamesy, Albert, and Chet; two sisters, Norraine and Billie; one son-in-law, C.W. Bynum; and one grandson.

Graveside service will be Monday, June 8, 2020, at 10:00 AM at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating, and Order of the Eastern Star Rites by Lodge #471.  Friends may also watch the service on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Live. There will also be a Celebration of Life at a later date.  Visitation is Sunday, June 7, 2020, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Shelton Memorial Christian Church Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
