GARDEN CITY, Kan. — As good as Patrick Hiltz’s recruiting class is expected to be for the 2020-21 season, what the second-year coach’s team is doing off the floor is even more impressive.

On Monday, the Broncbusters were recognized as a part of the 2019-20 American Volleyball Coach’s Association All-Academic Team.

“This is a culmination of some hard work and dedication by every single player on our team,” Hiltz said. “The girls took their academic performances and made it a priority and it shows. For us to get this award in year one of our new era of volleyball at Garden City Community College, just sets the bar at a high level for years to come. I couldn’t be prouder of our 2019-20 Busters. And to accomplish this feat despite the craziness of the spring semester, just makes it an even greater accomplishment.”

That spring semester saw Garden City tally a cumulative 3.55 team GPA, which was the second highest among all squads at Garden City.

“These girls understand what’s important,” Hiltz added.

In addition to being recognized by the AVCA, the Broncbusters had five players named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team: Meosha ErvingSummer NerkowskiKatarina VojvodicJessica Forbes and Sheridan Rodriguez
