Dodge City girls golf wins Regionals for first time in 19 years

DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City High School girls golf team made history on Monday evening at Mariah Hills Golf Course, as the Red Demons won the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) Class 6A Regional for the first time since 2001.

While Dodge City won the regional, it’s rival from 50 miles west, Garden City, placed third and qualified as a team, as well. Garden City sophomore Ryann Warren paved the way for the Buffaloes with a first place finish.

Dodge City was led by senior Lauren Gleason’s second place finish with an 86, two strokes behind Warren. This was the first year that Gleason has played golf, and the senior was thrilled with her score on Dodge City’s home course.

The Class 6A State Tournament is set to take place on Monday & Tuesday, October 19-20, at Hesston Golf Course in Hesston. Play begins at 10 a.m. on Monday. Visit the KSHSAA website for more information.
