Garden City Wind defeat Colorado Springs Snow to win the Mountain League North Title.

Garden City 

      Pinch hitter Carlos Cartaya Jr. has 2 RBIs to lead the Garden City wind over the Colorado Springs Snow 4-3 in game 3 of the Peco league playoff quarter finals on Friday night. The Wind (33-22) advance to the semi finals on Thursday night to play the Roswell Invaders. 

    Carlos Cartaya Jr. hit a 2 run homer in the top of the 8th inning to tie the game up with the Colorado Springs Snow (29-14). Later in the 8th the Wind loaded the bases when short stop Manuel Blanco was walked to give the Wind the lead. Colorado Springs failed to score the rest of the game and The Wind held on for the victory.

           The Wind are now 1 series win away from playing in the Pecos League Championship. While the Colorado Springs Snow heads home after a tremendous season where they finished atop the Mountain Division North standings in the regular season. 

      The Wind struck 1st with a run in the 1st inning scored when center fielder Preston Rackey stole home on a catcher’s error after hitting a triple. No team would score again until the 6th inning when the Snow batted in two runs.

     Snow left fielder Alex Jackson was the 1st to score after an RBI by center fielder Adam Purdy. Purdy was the next to score after an error by Wind 3rd baseman Taylor Barber.

      The Snow would score their final run in the bottom of the 7th when 2nd baseman Nick Diaz was batted in by Left Fielder Alex Jackson. In the 8th the Wind scored 3 runs and held the Snow scoreless through the 8th and 9th to hold on to win the game and the series.
