Lady Beaver softball sweeps Ulysses

Ulysses, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–It was big start to the season on Tuesday for the Scott City softball team, as they make the trip to Ulysses to face the Tigers in windy conditions. The Lady Beavers would make quick work of Ulysses, picking up wins of 20-0 and 23-0 to get their season started strong.

In the first game, Scott City led 3-0 after the opening inning, plated 10 in the second and added four more in the third to win 20-0. Cheyenne Cramer was dominant in the circle, throwing just 40 pitches for the win, striking out eight of nine batters faced in a perfect game performance. The offense had 10 hits in the win, as MacKayla Miller drove in four runs and Ella Rumford had two hits, including a home run. Malorie Cupp also went yard in the win.

Scott City continued their strong offense in game two, putting up nine runs in the second and fourth inning, en route to the 23-0 win. MacKayla Miller hit a home run, and drove in five runs. Jordis Show had four RBI and Hannnah Tucker drove in three runs. Tori Ford had a four-hit game, and Cheyenne Cramer had three hits and drove in two runs. Cramer gave up one hit in just 47 pitches in four innings, and had eight strikeouts in the win.

The Lady Beavers are 2-0 overall, as well as in GWAC play, as they will play at Holcomb on Tuesday, April 5, while Ulysses dropped to 0-4 overall, 0-2 in league play. They’ll host Lakin on Thursday.
