Castro hits 2 Home Runs, 4 RBI’s to push lady buffs to victory

GARDEN CITY, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – Thursday afternoon was a spitting image to Tuesdays road trip to Liberal for the Lady Buffs.

Back at home, the Lady Buffaloes started right where they left off. Foster would reach on a walk, and Manwarren would reach after a fly ball error on Liberal. Yassena Castro, one of only two seniors, would step up to the plate and smash the ball into familiar territory. A left field Home Run, her second on the season, and Garden City would find an early 3-0 lead after the first inning.

Jump to the bottom of the third, Jesy Foster would walk again, bringing up Brie Manwarren. Brie would clobber one into dead center for a triple RBI putting the Lady Buffaloes up 6-0 after the third.

The Buffaloes scored four runs in the fourth inning. Piper Harris and Kamy Foster each had RBIs in the big inning.

Manwarren was credited with the victory for Garden City. Manwarren allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Z Torres took the loss for Liberal. The hurler surrendered ten runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out six.

The Lady Buffaloes tallied three home runs on the day. Castro went yard in the first and third innings. Foster had a four bagger in the fourth inning.

Garden City had seven hits in the game. Manwarren and Castro all collected multiple hits for the Lady Buffs. Castro and Manwarren each collected two hits to lead the Buffaloes.
