Scott City tennis wins regional title

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Class 3-2-1A Regional Tennis meet had a tough start, thanks to the rain on Thursday, but it ended with quality play to wrap up play on Friday.

In Scott City, it would be the host Beavers dominating the competition by winning the meet and qualifying all six players for state. Trego and Meade would be the next two teams in line and Colby was fourth.

Scott City saw Avry Noll win a regional title, and Dylan Duff take fourth in Singles. Both of their doubles teams would qualify, as Houston Frank/Sage Stoecklein would rally in their third place match to win, and after dropping their first set in their first match of the day, Dante Franco/Ayden Presson would win their final two sets to make it to state, but dropped their fifth place match on Friday.

Meade qualified their unbeaten doubles team of Korben Clawson/Nico Rodrigo-Cofe, who won the regional, and Vincent Lynn was fifth. Cimarron’s Luke Janzen dropped his semi-final match to come back and take third place.

Scott City coach Corbin Janssen was voted regional coach of the year.
