KDOT hosts May 17 public meeting on intersection improvements near Dodge City

Dodge City, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) –

The public is invited to attend a public meeting for the U.S. 56/U.S. 283/U.S. 400/2nd Avenue intersection improvement project just south of Dodge City on Tuesday, May 17, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Dodge City Public Schools USD 443 Civic Center VIP Room, 2112 1st Avenue, in Dodge City. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is hosting the event.

 

The meeting will allow attendees to review the proposed intersection improvements, provide input and speak one-on-one with project staff. There will be no formal presentation, and attendees can come and go at any time during the meeting. This project is currently in the design phase. Information presented at the meeting will also be made available online at: ksdotike.org/Dodge-City-intersection-improvement.

 

The U.S. 56/U.S. 283/U.S. 400/2nd Avenue intersection project in Ford County is proposing a roundabout to accommodate increased future traffic projections due to the planned Hilmar Cheese Company facility southeast of the intersection. Roundabouts have proven successful at reducing crashes at numerous locations across Kansas. Information about the benefits of roundabouts will be available, and the public will be able to provide comments.

This project is being 100% funded with state dollars through KDOT’s Safety/Intersection Improvement Program and is being completed in partnership with the City of Dodge City and Ford County.
