49th Annual Kansas Shrine Bowl set for Saturday

Pittsburg, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The 49th Annual Kansas Shrine Bowl will kick off at 7pm Saturday at Carnie-Smith Stadium on the campus of Pittsburg State University.

Three area southwest Kansas athletes are set to compete for the West squad. Cimarron’s Braxton Harrison, Dodge City’s Emmanuel Aguilar and Terrell Elliott from Garden City are on this year’s West team. The West squad practiced earlier in the week at Ft. Hays State University, before heading to Pittsburg on Wednesday. Wichita Collegiate’s Troy Black is the West head coach, and Hays High head coach Tony Crough is serving as an assistant.

West leads the all-time series 30-17-1, and have won the last three games. Last year, it was a 14-0 victory for the West in a game held at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson.
