Scott City tennis turning to youth movement

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After an historic run in 2021, just one player returns from Scott City’s fifth place finish at the Class 3-2-1A State Tennis meet.

While the Lady Beaver tennis team has just one varsity returner, they do have a handful of players that played in at least one varsity meet last year.

Malorie Cupp returns with state experience, just falling one match shy of taking home a medal.

There will be a change in scheduling this year for Scott City. They will not be starting their season at Wichita Collegiate, and have replaced that meet with the Smoky Valley Invitational in mid September. Around 19 players make up of this year’s team. They are coached by Cheryl Kucharik and assisted by Corbin Janssen and Lucas Ellis.
